If you want to play Silent Hunter V or any of the previous titles, head to for mods because they are the only active community I could find. There sadly isn't an active subreddit to discuss the game or submarine simulators in general so I'm imagining the playerbase isn't too massive. Is the subsim genre too niche to be profitable? I don't know the sale numbers on Silent Hunter V but I can't imagine they were overwhelming. Being able to walk around a German submarine and having to squeeze past your sweaty, stinky crew mates brings me a massive amount of immersion a sim hasn't given me in a long time.ĭoing some research I have yet to find any news of the series continuing or being discontinued, a Silent Hunter Online F2P which has servers still up but development seems abandoned, and no other game company attempting to step up to the plate and take a shot. That's par the course for Ubi, but it's still a solid game when you get past that. Ubisoft, though, did not give it enough love and the game requires a good amount of mods and unofficial patching to make it a great game. I'm happy to say I've fell in love with it. I recently got into Silent Hunter 5 after passing over the series throughout years worried of it's steep learning curve. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
